Be You Project
Engage - Achieve - Thrive

Who are we
We are Youth Mentors that specialise in working with children and young people in the Neurodiversity community. With almost 20 years combined experience in SEND our founders feel very passionately that everyone deserves the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
Be You Project aims to provide young people the opportunity to grow, develop life skills and form friendships in a safe, understanding environment.
We aim to build a social network for children and young people who may not usually have the opportunity to take part in activities away from their family and home.
What we do
We offer a range of groups and clubs for children and young people of varying ages

Youth Club
The project supports children and young people to feel empowered and inspired to be part of their local community. We meet regularly and engage the young people in fun activities and outings, giving them a chance to develop new skills and a platform to make friends with like minded peers. The activities delivered by the project take place in variety of community venues and settings.

121 Youth Mentoring
Mentoring sessions with Be You Project are about building a trusting relationship and a safe space to ask questions and discuss anything that might be worrying them, as well as sharing celebrations when things are going well. These sessions are tailored to the individual. We will identify subjects that need covering in depth - guided by the young people and parents. These sessions are extremely varied and could be something as simple at how to navigate a supermarket with a list, catching a bus or basic social skills but could also include writing a CV, preparing for interviews or conflict resolution. These sessions can take place at school or elsewhere. The main aim of these sessions is to become a trusted advocate for the young person and an ongoing support for them and their family.

Independence and Life Skills Courses
We work in small groups to promote independence by taking time to go over skills that some people take for granted. Navigating public transport, ordering a drink in a coffee shop, buying cinema tickets or basic road safety and social ettiquette are all covered. These courses run for 6 week and each one offers a different set of skills.

Group work
The project supports children and young people to feel happy and safe. Supporting their mental health and wellbeing is a primary objective. We offer the opportunity to meet regularly and engage the young people in different activities and discussions, giving them a chance to become more aware of their own mental health and develop new coping skills. The activities delivered by the project can take place in schools or in specific groups outside school.

Topical Workshops
Sometimes things need a little bit more explaining. Growing up leads to changes, physically, mentally and socially. All things that can be hard to navigate at the best of times let alone when your brain processes things slightly differently. Our workshops aim to cover improtant topics at a pace and level that is accessible to everyone.

Outings and Trips
One of the primary objectives of the project is to provide these young people with a social network. A day out with friends or a weekend trip away are things that might not be easy for some of us but are not impossible. We approach our trips in an organised, informative manner so everyone is clear on the plans ahead of time. This reduces anxiety meaning we can all enjoy the trip.
